What is a genome/DNA and why is it important
to know?
DNA are the genetic instructions that determine how our body
grows and it is important to understand them because it will help us gain
insight on why and how some diseases develop.
Does CS have a significant role to play in studying why
we are tall, organized, athletic, or healthy?
Because CS automates tasks at incredible speeds, it allows
us to process large amounts of data regarding genomes in a faster manner using
AI technologies and more.
What are some of the important questions in biology and
medicine that can be addressed with computer science?
Questions may involve the relations and patterns between
large data sets containing genomes and the genome of affected individuals, and
CS can be implemented to find these patterns.
Is it enough to study humans and the human genome?
I believe it is also important to study other animals that
have certain properties like slow aging as that could help us.
Is the
industry interested in computational biology, or is it largely academic research?
Many pharmaceutical
companies take advantage of computational biology to create new medicines more
efficiently than ever before.
