DIRECTIONS: On the day of the midterm, you will be given 5 pairs of terms, with all terms the terms chosen from the list above. Your job will be to make write 1-2 paragraphs explaining the connection between the two terms- is one an example of the other, are they contradictory, did one cause the other, etc.? There are no set right or wrong answers: rather, full marks will be awarded for an answer that clearly connects the two terms in some way and demonstrates clear knowledge of each term’s meaning. Responses that merely define the terms without clearly connecting the two, or which present an unconvincing connection, or which are factually inaccurate, will earn only partial marks. Overall, the midterm will account for 10% of your grade.
