Who is Randy Pausch?

Randolph Frederick Pausch also known as Randy Pausch was born on October 23, 1960. He was a renowned professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He was diagnosed as a pancreatic cancer patient in September 2006. Sadly he took his last breath on July 25, 2008, aged 47.

What was he known for?

Randy Pausch's upbeat lecture titled "The Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" on September 18, 2007 became a popular YouTube video which led him to appear on other media platforms. His co-authored book called The Last Lecture, which was also based on same theme, became a New York Times best-seller. These consecutive events towards the end of his life are the main causes of him being well known among the masses.

5 things of Randy Pausch speech that peeked my interest are:

  1. His quote, "Being successful does not make you manage your time well. Managing your time well makes you successful."
  2. His advice of planning before doing.
  3. His straightforward answer regarding whether to do important but not due soon works or not important but due soon works.
  4. Subtantiates his claims with real life examples.
  5. Promoting good manners, love and respect towards each other.
